Clara Rojas is a lawyer and was the campaign director of Ingrid Betancourt’s presidential campaign when they were kidnapped by the FARC in 2002. She gave birth to her son Emmanuel during her captivity but he was taken from her when he was only eight months old. After six years of captivity she was finally liberated. Clara and her son currently live in Bogotá, Colombia. Translator: Adriana V. López is the founding editor of Críticas, Publishers Weekly's sister magazine devoted to the Spanish-language publishing world. She is the co-editor of Barcelona Noir, a short story collection for Akashic Books, as well as the editor of Fifteen Candles: 15 Tales of Taffeta, Hairspray, Drunk Uncles and Other Quinceañera Stories (HarperCollins, 2007). Lopez's work has appeared in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post, among other publications and book anthologies. Her essays and fiction have appeared in Juicy Mangoes (Simon & Schuster, 2007), Border-Line Personalities: A New Generation of Latinas Dish on Sex, Sass & Cultural Shifting (HarperCollins, 2004), and Colonize This! Das Buch hat mich leider etwas enttäuscht, weil gerade der Teil der Geschichte, der wohl die meisten interessiert (auch mich) - nämlich wie sie den Vater ihres Kindes in der Gefangenschaft kennenlernte & wie es unter diesen Umständen zu einer Beziheung kam - genau dieser Teil wird mit keinem Wort erwähnt!!! Plötzlich ist sie schwanger und bekommt das Kind. Aha?! Enttäuschend, da auch der Rest der Geschichte sehr an der Oberfläche gehalten wird...
A mi me gustó mucho el estilo de ésta biografÃa. Clara Rojas no se detiene a adornar detalles de quién y cuando y como. Ella nos lleva de la mano a un viaje interior en el cual nos narra como, en un largo prozeso de seis a^nos de cautiverio, logra después de profundas experiencias espirituales y reflexiones sobre si misma y los que le rodean, sobrellevar con más paciencia las condiciones infrahumanas del secuestro y las debilidades y mezquindeces de sus compa^neros de infortunio y de los que la mantienen prisionera. Asà como tambien nos hace participar de momentos de gestos de solidaridad de personas inesperadas.Que ella no cuente como y de quién quedó embarazada, ese es su derecho. Ella se guarda ese y otros detalles sobre la identidad de ciertas personas que la rodearon en esas circunstancias, lo que demuestra más bien su respeto y sensibilidad por aquellos que en el momento de publicarse el libro todavÃa se encontraban prisioneros.Me pareció increible que dedicara un capÃtulo a el perdón ya que me parece un mensaje importante dirigido a la FARC como invitación a reflexionar sobre la necesidad de encontrar una via de diálogo constructivo.La narración de esta experiencia nos puede ayudar a reflexionar sobre las propias actitudes en momentos adversos de la vida, sobre nuestras estrategias de supervivencia...Un testimonio que vale la pena leer de una admirable mujer!
